Tuckaway Golf Course was host to fifth tournament of the season for Golfers Gone Wild.
Thus far weather has NOT co-operated and Saturday, May 9 was no different.
Players teed off in the morning into high winds and below normal temps. Despite the cool weather, GGW started off hot. Kappatain Styles hit par and birdie on the first two holes. The TaylorMade Kid, also made par on #1. Cadillac Blue made par on #1 and #4 (rated the toughest hole on the course).
Although not in the same 4some, Hammond and Taylor were neck and neck through the end of the round. Both scored 92 and each managed to win 7 skins.
But at the end of the day, the TaylorMade Kid emerged with his third win of the season.
Playing with a slightly higher handicap; The Kid won by the slimmest of net margins (0.3) over K Styles. Finishing strong with a 44 on the difficult back nine (par 37) helped the TaylorMade Kid overcome the small field.
Coming in around net par, Cadillac Blue was third a little over 1 stroke back. And, despite a bad day at the office, Lucky Lefty kept his overall lead in GGW Cup points with a fourth place finish.
Medicine Man made his first appearance of the season and managed to win a skin on #8. The Silent Assassin was quiet for the third week in a row; silencing critics who claim that he is “sandbagging” rounds to get a higher handicap. Grade A now has enough confirmed rounds on the books. His new handicap and all others are on the attached statistic sheet for the week.
Sam scheduled our next test at Glenwoodie Golf Course on Saturday, May 16. As all South Suburban Golfers know; Glenwoodie is guaranteed to be a tough exam and failure is not an option.
The famed Augusta Golf Club moved its Masters Tournament up to Easter Weekend this year. Bowing to our own tradition, Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club. Unlike the Masters playoff finish between Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuzien, our first GGW Tour Event wasn't close. Steady Eddie had a Masterful Start to the 2012 Golf Season. Eddie shot a smoking hot 80 and beat the rest of the field by more than 5 strokes net. Steady Eddie also won…See More
