GGW Roasts Turkey Creek

2012 GGW Event No. 21

What's a perfect recipe for outstanding day of golf?

First you need to start with good weather, not too hot or too cold. Set the temperature somewhere between 80 and 90 degrees. Make sure it stays dry. Then find a good golf course layout, it should be firm but fair. Not too tough, not too tender. Then mix in a combination of Talent and a few pieces of Raw Meat. And slow simmer the whole thing in some competitive juice. And…

Quick Draw’s New Shot Shines at Silver Lake South

Bright afternoon sunshine greeted you Golfers Gone Wild at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park.  GGW sanctioned its 12th Tour Event of the 2012 season on Saturday, June 9.  Silver Lake has two familiar 18 hole layouts. And now sports a new driving range. You played the par 70 South Course at 5948 yards.  As is their standard, the course…

The Hawk soars at Tuckaway by C. Connors "The Commish"

The Hawk soars at Tuckaway
The drive to Tuckaway is a nice scenic excursion down Route 394 and the veering left passing the home that Micheal Jordan purchased as a rookie.  Tuckaway is a pleasant course with fast postage stamp greens, and bending fairways. Once there, GGW practiced and prepared for an event the Hawk preyed upon.

Shooting a net 72.4 Hawk devoured the course winning by a margin of almost three full strokes and 4 skins. This is Hawks initial…

Rifleman Roughs Up Green Garden

2012 GGW Event No. 6

NATO leaders arrived in Chicago this weekend bringing protests throughout the area. Unruly mobs took over public parks. Some white supremacists got their skinheads batted around at a Tinley Park restaurant. Chicago Police, always ready to get rough with rabble rousers, kept rowdy crowds in check.

Despite that mayhem, You Golfers Gone Wild…

Way Cool Conquered Cog Hill by N. Curry

This past weekend  Golfers Gone Wild Tour took a detour.  We were originally scheduled to get together at Green Garden Gold Course, but due to travel, work and other time committments GGW could not muster six golfers for a quorum on Saturday.

However, on Sunday, April 15, an impromptu tee time was scheduled at Cog Hill and seven golfers showed up to compete.  After the score cards were counted, Way Cool Conquered Cog Hill.  Wayne continuing his early…

Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club by Nate Curry

The famed Augusta Golf Club moved its Masters Tournament up to Easter Weekend this year.  Bowing to our own tradition, Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club.

Unlike the Masters playoff finish between Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuzien, our first GGW Tour Event wasn't close. Steady Eddie had a Masterful Start to the 2012 Golf Season.  Eddie shot a smoking hot 80 and beat the rest of the field by…

Recap for Winners at Coyote Run and Tuckaway 2011 GGW Events No. 5 and 6 by Nate Curry

Over the past two weeks, we’ve held the 5th GGW Tour Event at Coyote Run and the 6th GGW Tour Event at Tuckaway. Both courses and results are familiar to you regular Golfers Gone Wild.  For everyone else, here is a short recap.

Coyote Run, located in Flossmoor, Illinois is a short 6000 yard par 71 with significant water affecting shots on several holes. Most GGW know where the hazards lie and avoided blow-up problems to create a very competitive round on Saturday, April… Continue

Opening Day – TaylorMade Kid on First Honor Roll 2011 GGW Event No. 1-By Nate Curry (Cadillac Blue)

Opening Day is so exciting. GGW didn’t care about the weather, course conditions, or cost. It was time to get this season started. See which of us have improved, find out who among us is better, and determine what players will earn 2011 Year End Honors.

On Saturday, April 2, twelve members of Golfers Gone Wild took to a familiar course, to play a traditional season opening round at University Golf Club and Conference Center in University Park.  April in Chicago is…

Slow Play

It seems as if slow play is an issue. Ok, I agree, but when we play slow it is not because we are trying to make that all important put. It is because we suck!!!

Funny One From Interactive Golf

A husband and wife are on the 9th green when suddenly she collapses from a heart attack! "Help me dear," she groans to her husband.

The husband calls 911 on his cell phone, talks for a few minutes, picks up his putter, and lines up his putt. His wife raises her head off the green and stares at him. "I'm dying here and you're putting?"

"Don't worry dear," says the husband calmly, " they found a doctor on the second hole and he's coming to help you."

"Well, how… Continue

Golf Joke of the Week: Can't Miss A Scheduled Tee Time

An older guy tees off at his regular time and the ranger pairs him with a younger player. After a few holes, the young guy slices a ball toward the cemetary off the 7th fairway. While playing his next shot, the young man notices the older guy standing still with his hat over his heart as a funeral procession passes. The young man, impressed, says I really admire your reverence for the departed. The older guy says, well of course, we were married for 35 years.
