On Saturday, May 2, the GGW Tour stopped at Green Garden Country Club in Frankfort.
The Midwest Junior Amateur Tournament was held on the Blue Course. GGW took on the Gold.
On that day, on that course, Lucky Lefty was much more than that. Miller finished a full six strokes gross (and four strokes net) better than the field.
Lefty dominated the field with his 2nd Tour win plus winning 9 skins highlighted by birdie on #9.
Add to our continuing amazement, GGW saw a player 60 feet from the hole, on the fringe, no problem, putt in, birdie, 42 on the front. Is it Luck?
The TaylorMade Kid and Kappatain Styles battled for second, both shooting 93 with Taylor besting Jeff by 0.4 net. K Styles did win the last 4 skins finishing strong with par, par, bogey.
Way Cool hung tough with the First Group Favorites through the front nine, including three pars in a row. However, something just went Way Wrong on the backside.
We had the first Hawk sighting of the season and three players qualified for Tour handicap.
Country Strong started but took a DNF (did not finish). A family commitment to daughter’s Prom ended his round after 12 holes. He was just heating up. Ron had pars back to back on #11 and #12. A quick informal survey found that after making par or better, 58% of the GGW would have continued to play, turned off the cell phone and just ordered extra pictures.
Even if he stayed, Country Strong wouldn’t have caught Lefty, who once again proved he is much more than Lucky.
The famed Augusta Golf Club moved its Masters Tournament up to Easter Weekend this year. Bowing to our own tradition, Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club. Unlike the Masters playoff finish between Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuzien, our first GGW Tour Event wasn't close. Steady Eddie had a Masterful Start to the 2012 Golf Season. Eddie shot a smoking hot 80 and beat the rest of the field by more than 5 strokes net. Steady Eddie also won…See More
