a.k.a. Golfers Gone Wild "Resurrect Your Golf Game"

Saturday, May 16 was a beautiful day to golf. It was sunny, with temperatures were in the 70’s, and little to no wind to contend with. Unfortunately, Friday had heavy rains, thunderstorms and torrential downpours all day and most of the night.

Glenwoodie Golf Course was to host our sixth tournament of the season. But with holes #11, #12, #16 and #17 completely underwater and soggy grounds on almost all holes, that proved to be too much even for Golfers Gone Wild.

The Tournament Director canceled the weekly tournament.

Five members still managed to get in 18 at University Golf Course. Some people you just can’t stop. Rifleman, just off the disabled list, would have beaten the field with a net 70. Cadillac Blue made birdie on #1 to win the first skin. Quick Draw, caught up with the starting five at #3, and won the won seven skins with a key birdie on #8. Including a hole he didn’t even play.

Everybody won at least one skin on the day. Country Strong won five skins.

Saturday saw results from the first match play contests of the season. Two matches were played. Both were won 2 up with similar circumstances. Lucky Lefty (-6) beat Silent Assassin, 2 up. Country Strong (+1) beat Cadillac Blue, also 2 up.

Both Sam and Nate closed 3-hole leads to one, but couldn’t catch up before the day was done.

This year, “Bad Weather” has been the toughest opponent on the GGW Tour. But, tomorrow, the Tour resumes at George Dunne National.

No matter what the forecast, we cannot let cold, rain or wind break us.

Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club by Nate Curry

The famed Augusta Golf Club moved its Masters Tournament up to Easter Weekend this year.  Bowing to our own tradition, Golfers Gone Wild held its Opening Round on Saturday, April 7 at University Park Golf Club. Unlike the Masters playoff finish between Bubba Watson and Louis Oosthuzien, our first GGW Tour Event wasn't close. Steady Eddie had a Masterful Start to the 2012 Golf Season.  Eddie shot a smoking hot 80 and beat the rest of the field by more than 5 strokes net.  Steady Eddie also won…See More
